Here is a look at the development of one of the illustration in the series, from pencil sketches to inks to final washes and highlights.
I’ve been enjoying the combining dry and wet media in my illustrations.
It seems the pairing imparts a more complex set of contradictory qualities in the drawings.
Still, it remains important to choose media that posits the broadest possible spectrum for expression and fluid gesture.
Sometimes this means sacrificing the illusion of control and stability for the considerable gain of marks that are true mirrors of yourself – both a reflection and a reversal; an intersection and division.
This particular illustration was drawn with Indian inks, gouache and charcoal.

Thanks also for the support from TwoThousand and ABC.
