Reverberation

When I was searching for a home for the Asperatus series, I knew that the illustrations needed an environment that would do more than merely showcase the lines and washes on the page, a sense of place that was more than blank walls and spotlights. I sought a setting that could support and elevate my work, one that could harmonise with the themes and symbols in the illustrations so that the singular notes my brushes were playing could be transformed into warm chords and roaring choirs.

In the Skeleton Gallery at the Australian Museum, I found a place that could pull the singular symbols and notes inside the four corners of my frames, escort them across the gulf between each easel and engulf you with the ideas sent reverberating across the entire environment – off the staircases, off the balcony, off the roof two stories above.

Tread carefully, it’s a work in progress but one that’s on track for June 1st, promise!
